His property is now Edgeworth David Garden, and Edgeworth David Avenue, Hornsby, is named after him. Professor of Geology at Sydney University from 1891, he sailed to Antarctica in 1909 as part of the Shackleton Expedition. This photograph shows F A Mackay, Edgeworth David, and Douglas Mawson on reaching the South Magnetic Pole for the first time on 16 January 1909.
