The Devils Elbow hairpin bend is out of the photograph to the upper left. The foreground shows the base of the carriageway for the Great Northern Highway constructed c. 1928. This bridge was demolished during World War Two and some of its stones used for terraces at the works depot building the Hawkesbury River Road Bridge (now Rest Park).
