Ruddock Park in Quarter Sessions Road, Westleigh was named in honour of him. Max Ruddock had a passion for environmental matters and it was during his office that Hornsby the Bushland Shire was born.
He was educated at Fort St High School and graduated with a Master of Economics from Sydney University. He topped the year in his final examination for the Australian Society of Accountants. During his parliamentary career, the Honourable Mr Ruddock held the portfolios of Transport, Revenue, and Assistant Treasurer. He is remembered in the Hornsby Shire for his opposition to quarrying at Dural, oil drilling at Galston and his stand against the building of an international airport at Galston. Max Ruddock was born in Marrickville in January 1914 and died in May 1976.

His son Philip Ruddock represented the federal electorates of Parramatta, Dundas and Berowra between 1973 and 2016. In 2017 he was elected Mayor of Hornsby Shire.DimensionsHornsby Shire Council
