An engineer, he campaigned for the electrification of the railway line from Hornsby to Hawkesbury River and a traffic bridge over the river to replace the old ferry.
In 1962 he lost the Liberal Party pre-selection to John C. Maddison, later Minister for Justice. Storey Park, on Old Berowra Road, Hornsby, is a memorial to him. He died in September 1966 and his son Warren has also served on the Hornsby Shire Council 1968-1971 and 1977-1983.
