His home, Eldruwin, still stands on Fernhill Avenue. As well as orcharding, he operated fertiliser and sawing mills. This photograph shows the fertiliser mill built on the corner of Ray Road and Dunmore Avenue. The mill converted bone to fertiliser. It was moved to Alexandria in 1912 after complaints about the smell. The saw mill processed local timber used in building locally and in Parramatta.
