When she died she left her property to Hornsby Shire Council to be used for the benefit of local children. This bequest is commemorated by the Esther Wait Room in Hornsby Library. This is a photograph of the pastel portrait by Joseph Bennett which was donated to Hornsby Shire Council by Grace Cranfield.
