Identifiernot specifiedPhotographernot specifiedDescriptionDuring the excavations in 1970 for the construction of Hornsby Central Library on the Pacific Highway, a buried cannon was unearthed. The cannon, believed to have been used by the Hornsby militia, had previously been in the garden of the Council Chambers. It is thought that it was buried as a precaution during World War Two. The Australian Army took the cannon and donated this model to the Council. This picture shows Councillor Gordon Curby and other dignitaries outside the then library.
