DescriptionHugh Epthorp was appointed at Teacher-in-Charge of old Hornsby (now Normanhurst) Public School in 1884 and previously held teaching positions at Cobbitty, Moore Creek and Bowling Alley Point. He married fellow teacher, Elizabeth Rowe.
Hugh was caught up in local controversy when the Department of Education decided to close the school in 1891 and open a new one at Thornleigh.
