DescriptionThe Hornsby Bowling Club was officially opened on Saturday 28th March, 1936 at 2pm by Shire President Charles Somerville.
The clubhouse and bowling green was constructed by the Council at a cost of £1,200. The club had an initial lease on the ground for 15 years.
The membership fee was £3 3 shillings.
In 1965 the land was gazetted as a Crown Reserve.
Hornsby Bowling Club continued to operate on this site, however by the 2000s its use gradually declined.
From 2009, the Police, Citizens and Youth Club obtained title over the Bowling Club with a perpetual lease. In 2010, due to lack of funds, the greens were maintained by volunteers.
Following the adoption of The Waitara Park Plan of Management by Council in September 2015, the site was subsequently cleared for further park redevelopment.Physical FormatWaitaraDimensionsRobert Green Collection
