DescriptionRed Hill Observatory was on Pennant Hills Road. In the background the house Red Hill can be seen. It was the residence of the judge Grantley Fitzhardinge.
The observatory staff worked out of tents until the building opened in 1894 and closed c.1932 after the retirement of James Short.
