This property was originally called, Amor's Paddock and was a vacant block of land in the 1930 s and 40s. It was on this site that many circus events were held before the big circuses came to town. The local boys and girls organised their own circus shows on Amor's Paddock to raise money for the Red Cross and the war effort. They charged an admission of threepence for adults and one penny for children.
Commenting on the circuses at Amor's Paddock, Bob Davis recalls: "Mum lent me our Edison wind-up gramophone and it was my job to keep it fully wound up and with a sharp needle in the pick-up head. I raised and lowered the volume as instructed by the 'Ringmaster' and we played a 78 speed record, The Colonel Bogey March over and over again."Physical FormatAsquithDimensionsRobert Green Collection
