Locomotive 3642 was a two cylinder, non-condensing, coal-fired superheated 4-6-0 36 class express passenger steam locomotive that entered service in 1926 and hauled passenger trains throughout New South Wales.
It was withdrawn from service in 1969 and later returned to service in 1981 running heritage tours throughout New South Wales.
