DescriptionThe fire occurred on 30 November 1957, which came to be known as Black Saturday, when a huge fire started in Galston Gorge and raced up the valley towards Hornsby.
Many buildings were destroyed, including Hornsby Public School and Hornsby Scout Hall, while St Peters Church (pictured) and the School of the Arts suffered significant damage.
