George unfortunatle lost his right leg below the knee when he was a young person at Araluen.
George moved his family from the valley to a site opposite Barr Island and later Barr Point, finally retiring to Brooklyn.
George was renowned as an axeman and competed at the Royal Agriculture Show for many years.
George was elected as a councillor to Hornsby's inaugral council.
