DetailsFrom 1896 to 1939 Hornsby Shire Band had a number of name changes. During this 43 year period, there were times when it ceased to exist. The band had to raise its own finances from public donations and as it was not subsided by Council this placed continual pressure for it to remain financially viable. Despite these difficulties the band was well received and supported by the community. A rotunda was built in Hornsby Park for the band and was officially opened on 1st November 1919. The band performed regularly there on Sunday afternoons.
The Hornsby Shire Band formed an important part of Hornsby's history from its early beginnings to the commencement of WWII.
