StreetNew Line RoadSuburbCherrybrookDetailsDespite the name, this is one of the oldest roads in the area. It has had many name changes. In 1829 it was "New North Road" in contrast with "Old Northern Road" which it joins at Dural. On re-alignment in 1845 it was named "The New Public Northern Road".
However, in 1829, New Line Road, which today runs through the town of Cherrybrook, was surveyed by Surveyor William Govett. The road was constructed to reduce the distance from Dural to Sydney. The road ran from Dural through Pennant Hills and cut off Parramatta. The new route reduced the distance from Sydney to the Hunter Valley by 15 miles.
