StreetHaldane StreetSuburbAsquithDetailsNamed after Lord Richard Haldane (1856-1926). British Prime Minister, Herbert Henry Asquith, appointed Haldane as Lord Chancellor in June 1912.
Prior to 1929 the street that ran parallel to the west of Sherbrook Road was called Haldane Street in the northern portion and Olive Street in the southern part that linked with Lockwood Street. As the street had two names it caused confusion. Consequently Hornsby Shire Council obtained ministerial approval to name the entire street Olive Street. This 1929 decision resulted in Haldane Street terminating at the junction with Winston Street.
