Alan Humphrey Scott

BiographyAlan Scott enlisted on 19 September 1914 and began service as a Lieutenant and was rapidly promoted.
He served with distinction with the 4th Battalion at Gallipoli and was awarded the Distinguished Service Order for bravery in the attack on Lone Pine.
At age 24 he was given command of the new 56th Battalion in France and was highly commended, being Mentioned in Dispatches three times.
He was recommended for the Military Order of Savoy, Cavalier, an Italian award, but it wasn't granted.
Scott was killed by a sniper when the battalion was being withdrawn and he was showing his successor the front. His first name is sometimes misspelt "Allan".
