StreetWongala CrescentSuburbBeecroftDetailsWongala is an Aboriginal word meaning "boomerang". In the 1930s, the road was called Railway Crescent north to Malton Street and Thornleigh Road from there to Boundary Road. In the 1960s the entire road was called Railway Parade. To avoid confusion with other Railway Parades in the area, the name was changed to Wongala Crescent in 1969.
According to her daughter, Marjorie Gurney who lived at 55 Railway Parade, Beecroft, was instrumental in getting Railway Parade changed to Wongala Crescent. She canvassed all the residents living in Railway Parade and Wongala was the popular choice as it describes the street which curves towards Pennant Hills.
