Brosnan Place was named after the last surviving De La Salle brother in the Castle Hill area, Brother Dermot Brosnan on 3 April 2002. He arrived in the area in Australia in 1936 and eventually moved to Castle Hill were he still lives and tends the Brothers' cemetery.
