He laid down a private bowling green adjacent to his residence in Hull Street about 1912." Mr. and Mrs. Mason are also described as "those stalwart pioneers who made their humble cottage available for Divine worship until 1893."
There is reference to "Mason's Paddock" opposite Chorley's where cricket matches were held.
