TypeOtherDetailsMuogamarra is a nature reserve on the the eastern side of the lower part of Berowra Creek. It comes from an Aboriginal word said to mean preserve for the future. It was given the name by John Tipper who purchased 600 acres there in 1934 as a private flora and fauna sanctuary. He was one of Australia's earliest environmentalists. The word is commonly construed today as having a conservationist meaning.CreatorPowell, John P. 1994, Placenames of the Greater Hawkesbury Region, Hawkesbury River Enterprises, Berowra, p.83
