On Saturday December 11 1915, Raine & Horne conducted an auction sale of 53 lots on the Hazelmead (also called Rossmead) Estate at Asquith, part of Thomas Salmon's orchard. Seven lots on the estate faced the eastern side of Royston Parade and frontages of the remaining lots faced Queens Road and Hazelmead Road (at that time the later was an unnamed road). There were nine lots between Hazelmead Road and Dudley Street. The allotments were reasonably level and city water adjoined the Estate. The auctioneers advertised the lots as cleared land, ready to build, 400 yards from the station being the site of a well-known orchard.
