It was near the station, built on land owned by the well-known Jimmy Wilton who had a Riding School there. Mello-Lite Pty. Ltd. had commenced in a shed in Hornsby Street in 1947, originally known as Pain Manufacturing Pty. Ltd. It manufactured Venetian blinds, awnings, insect screens and curtain rods. It later built a second factory at Sefton Road, Thornleigh. Eventually the Company was taken over, then moved to Rydalmere in the 1970s. The firm was a real Hornsby business success story.
