DescriptionOn Wednesday 13th September 2000, the Olympic Torch arrived at Pennant Hills Park where a festival was held to celebrate. It was the largest community celebration that Hornsby Shire Council residents have ever experienced, with an estimated 60,000 people gathered for the flame's arrival.
The day climaxed with three times Olympian, Matthew Dunn, carrying the Olympic Flame through the Torchbearer's corridor and onto the main stage where he lit our very own community cauldron.
Robert Ball was Hornsby Shire Council's General Manager from 1993 to 2011.
