DetailsArtist and author Reg Coulter came out to Berowra with his wife Eve in 1937. Reg built their house himself from sandstone gathered and cut on their land in the bush, down Nalya Lane. Water had to be carted up from the creek below, to mix the cement for the sandstone.
Their amazing house was built in a prime position, on a ridge overlooking Berowra Waters, and it was their home for fifty years.
The unique Berowra house is lived in today and has been modernized enough to make it very comfortable.
There are still a few old houses built from sandstone cut onsite. Including houses in Lonsdale, Creole/Arcadia, Nayla & Barnetts. Many of these old sandstone houses are hidden from the street today having been surrounded by modern suburbia.CreatorNathan TilburyKeywordsHousesBerowra
