Identifiernot specifiedPhotographerRalph HawkinsDescriptionA rock hole with diversion grooves and a grinding groove on the upstream side. Rock holes were regularly kept clean and filled with water after rain. To prevent seepage containing mud and leaves from polluting the water a diversion groove was engraved on the upstream side to divert the muddy water away from the fresh water in the rock hole. Some rock holes had lids which kept the water cool and excluded insects. Physical FormatHornsby Shire
