Charles Ernest Victor Harrington

BiographyCharles Harrington enlisted on 5 May 1916 and was sent to Victoria for training. He died fighting in the small French town of Treux, which was part of the Battle of the Somme. The unit war diary states that four men of the battalion were killed by German shellfire including Charles Harrington.
He was a member of a local cadet corp.
The Harrington family were among the few from Australia who traveled to the battlefields of the Western Front in the early 1920's.

Memorial NotesThe Barker College First World War memorial is six bronze panels on two brick pylons which list the names of former students who served and died in the First World War. The pylons sit on either side of steps from the playground below the Head of School's office.
