TypeClippingDetailsBerowra has a long history of being an area used for shooting parties. Indeed, the first mention of a name for the area was Perarra, used in association with a group visiting in 1804 who were in the region shooting pheasants (assumed to have been lyrebirds). As the tourism industry in Berowra grew, people came to the area not just to fish, but to shoot, particularly wallabies and lyrebirds. So popular was shooting in Berowra that people became concerned by the risk of accidental shootings.
The article, from the Sydney Morning Herald, June 12, 1915 highlights concerns about the risk of injury from stray shots.CreatorBerowra Living History GroupKeywordsBerowra
