Charles Turner was born in 1859. He was a bank manger with the Australian Joint Stock Bank which went bankrupt in the 1890s and was taken over by the Aust. Bank of Commerce and then the Bank of NSW. After the bank crash he turned to other ventures. He commenced poultry auctions in Sydney in 1897 and was instrumental with others in getting the Sydney City Council to start the Municipal Markets in Sydney in 1915.
He came to Berowra in 1900, invested in land and agriculture. He was a speculator in land and, besides developing it for agriculture, he developed it for sale.DimensionsBerowra Living History
