DescriptionThe photo was taken by George Lambert who painted the 1899 classic "Across the Black Soil Plains" using Hornsby horses as his models.

The bay horse on the left was owned by John Provest, the white horse was owned by Jim Savage. Young Phillip Provest is holding the white horse. The locations is Peat's Ferry Road, Waitara.
