The hospital's fire hose was of insufficient length to reach the fire and staff had to wait for the arrival of fire brigades from a number of North Shore Fire Stations. The fire was extinguished within 26 minutes, however it caused damage amounting to £2,684.
The District Coroner found the fire had started from the negligence of the mechanical and electrical engineer who left inflammable material unattended.Physical FormatHornsby
