The photograph shows span 2 (southern end of the bridge) just prior to fixing. The span was one of two K truss spans, the largest spans of the bridge. These two required 3 pontoons to transport them to the bridge site.

Span construction commenced on the 4th January 1944 and the final span was floated into place on the 14th May 1946
