TypeNewspaperDetailsPercy C Osborn aged 27, a labourer, disappeared from the residence of his employer, William Lutherborrow, florist of 4 Olive Street, Asquith on Monday 5 December 1927. Despite an extensive search he had not been found by Saturday 10 December and fears were held for his safety. A party of residents headed by Constables Davis and Aizelwood searched all around the scrub in Asquith, Hornsby and Galston Gorge. Despite heavy rain, a team of 100 searchers divided into parties and resumed the search on Sunday 11 December. Climbing through rugged country they found Percy calmly fishing on the banks of the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn. He was more surprised than the searchers. The fishing had not been good so he rolled up his lines and accompanied them home. For over four days, he had lived a carefree life, camping at night in a cave.DateDecember 12 1927PublisherDaily TelegraphKeywordsAsquithPercy OsbornFishingmissing personHawkesbury River
