Dating: [Between 1820 and 1834?]: Pennant Hills Road began as a bullock track for timber cutters in 1820. It was later surveyed providing a route from Ermington Wharf to the Pennant Hills sawmill. Sir Thomas Mitchell surveyed and oversaw the construction of the Great North Road between 1826 and 1834. The map shows what appears to be bullock tracks but not a road.
