Memorial cards are the size of a playing card customarily made from thin laminated cardboard. They are also known as prayer cards, funeral cards, or memorial cards. Memory cards are used for different occasions, such as celebrations of life and wakes; however, they are mostly used for funerals. People often keep them in a bible or prayer book after receiving them at a funeral. Usually, memorial cards have the photo of the deceased. Even though the first Kodak camera was introduced for public use in 1888, many families in 1902 may not have owned their cameras. With Doris Wells being only one year and six months old when she passed away in 1902, this may have been why the family did not include a photo on the card.
