Identifiernot specifiedDateJune 18 1992PhotographerPerumal Murphy Wu Pty LtdDescriptionThe extensive garden was designed and laid out around the late 1930's. The geometrically based layout includes drive and turning circle (partly sandstone paved) and terraced lawn and gardens. Other masonry features include sandstone walls with unusual sandstone drum piers and timber rail fence. Also brick kerb drains with stone edging on ornamental fish pond and flagstone terrace. Also a timber pergola with brick support walls, tennis court and a c1960's swimming pool. The garden is notable for its planting of exotic trees and particularly for the sensitive low shrubbery around the terrace paving. Trees include Fir (7m), row of Cypresses (8m) Deciduous Ash (12m), Magnolia (6m), Jacaranda on west lawn (13m) and Photinia. Shrubs include Azaleas Dwarf Maples Japonica Kniphofia and Dwarf Cypress. The garden also conserves a contrasting remnant native forest of mainly mature Blackbutts but with some Bluegums (to 2m high) and Angophora (16m). Gardens of this extent, period character and quality are now becoming quite rare in the Sydney region. Physical FormatCherrybrook
