Identifiernot specifiedDateNovember 1965PhotographerRobert WheatleyDescriptionOne of the stalwarts of the founding church was Caleb Gambling who transferred from Old Hornsby (Normanhurst) Church to take control of the Sunday school in Thornleigh in 1897. Methodist services had, for a time, been conducted in the School of Arts building and later in St David's Presbyterian Church from the 1890s. The first site selected was on the corner of Bellevue Street and Pennant Hills Road. Several years later a second site farther south was selected as it was more central for the people of both Pennant Hills and Thornleigh.
The building opened for worship on 9 February 1907 by Rev W Rodd with the West pennant Hills Methodist Choir, under the baton of Lewis Pogson, taking part. The Bellevue Street site was leased for a time before being sold in 1913. The proceeds were probably used to fund the cost of the Sunday school hall which was opened in 1917 by William Arnot a noted local preacher. When plans for the church were first made Thornleigh had been part of Ryde Circuit. The church joined Dural Circuit in 1908 and remained in that circuit until 1926 when it became part of the Epping Circuit until church union in 1977. A new Thornleigh - Pennant Hills Uniting Church was built on the site following amalgamation of the Methodist and some Presbyterian and Congregational churches and opened on 3 May 2003.
