BiographyReginald John Cashman was born in Woollahra, NSW on November 23, 1899.
Before enlisting in 1918 he had spent 4 years as a Cadet and 1 year in the Militia.
His address at the time of enlistment was 'Kirkleston' 2 Albert Street, Hornsby and his NOK was his mother, Emily, also of that address.
He embarked from Melbourne on October 5, 1918 and disembarked and sent to Gravesend Military Hospital for Mumps in December 1918.
After he recovered from Mumps he was sent to France in January 1919 only to be sent back to England suffering from Influenza and Bronchitis. He returned to Australia in 1919.
In July 1924, he married Dulcie Laura Reed and continued living at the family home in Albert Street.
In March 1942, at the age of 42 years, Reginald Cashman enlisted part-time in the 8th Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps as a Sergeant. His occupation at this time was listed as a Chartered Accountant.
Reginald Cashman lived at 'Kirkleston' 2 Albert Street, Hornsby until his death in 1960.
