DetailsThis is a one page description of the fire that raced across Galston in 1939/1940. Keith writes about the description of the fire given to him by the Fishburn brothers.
Esme Wood and Keith Brownscombe were neighbours and also volunteered together undertaking bush regeneration in Tim Brownscombe Reserve. This page was given by Keith to Esme, probably in response to her asking him about his knowledge of the last wildfire that affected the bush on Fishburns Road.
As at August 2023, there has been no wildfire affecting Tim Brownscombe Reserve or adjacent properties since 1939/1940, a period of over eighty years.
Esme, with assistance of the Galston RFS, undertook a small controlled burn in 2004 on her Voluntary Conservation Agreement property downslope from Tim's Bush.
Keith passed away in 2006.
