He married Annie Millicent Jurd in Hornsby in 1942 and they went on to have five children.
Arthur, like his father, became an orchardist in Glenorie.
Sadly, Arthur died unexpectantly in Cessnock in May 1963. He is buried at St Judes, Dural.
Annie Hughes died in 2006 at the age of 95.
