Ruth's parents were Harry Charles Provest and Louisa Duley (Howlison) of Peats Ferry Road, Waitara. Arthur spent his working life in Australia as a dairyman, many of those years in the dairies in Waitara. It seems that there were quite a few dairies around the Yardley Avenue, Orara and Romsey Streets area during the 1920s, including E. A. Peterson, E. F. Jauncey, George Dreis and the Wahroonga Dairy Company. Sadly, Arthur died in a motorcycle accident in 1930 at the young age of 35 years. Arthur and Ruth were living in Alexandria Parade, Waitara at the time.
