The centre was refurbished in 1968 which saw the centre expand to 64 specialty stores, and again in 1976, resulting in 89 specialty stores.
Work began in November 1999 to demolish the Westfield Shopping Centre followed by the partial closure and demolition of the Northgate Shopping Centre in January 2000. Two new constructions were built on the sites and linked, doubling the size of the shopping complex.
