DetailsFollowing a large bushfire in the Hornsby Heights area in 1964, where locals were forced to defend their own homes, local Kevin Williams, with the support of fellow residents approached Hornsby Council about forming a local Bushfire Brigade for Hornsby Heights. With the Council’s help, ‘The Gorge Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade’ was established and the first General Meeting was held at the public school in Somerville Road, Hornsby Heights on March 1, 1965.
