Toward the end of 1911, William was appointed to manage the new Malting Company established in Thornleigh. His family followed him from Toowoomba, Qld, towards then end of 1912. Their house on Duffy Avenue was built in 1913, fifty metres from the Maltworks. The Works were opened on August 29 1913 by the Premier of NSW the Honorable William Holman.
