He was accompanied by his family and was appointed District Constable at Barren Ridges (Epping Sawing Establishment) in July 1828. Two years later he received a grant of 100 acres and named his property Inglewood. The road, now known as Duffy Avenue, ran from Pennant Hills Road to his farmhouse. In 1930 Council decided that Duffy's Lane was not wide enough for motor transport and they requested a strip of land from most of the owners whose homes faced Duffy Lane. It was stipulated that homeowners had to remove and fencing otherwise they would receive an account from Council for its removal.SourceAn A-Z of Thornleigh including Westleigh (2019) p.52Map[1] RelatedDuffy Avenue, Thornleigh
