After securing the block of land on the corner of Rosemount Avenue and Warne Street, Pennant Hills which appears to have been paid for in full be 1935, the parish council wanted to build a large weatherboard church to accommodate 150 people. However, Hornsby Council who said the church had to be built of brick rejected the plan. This was difficult during the Second World War as there was a shortage of bricks but the foundation stone for the small church was laid on July 26, 1941 by Archbishop H W K Mowll and the building was completed the following year. A great deal of work towards the building and the establishment of St Marks was due to the tireless work of Church Warden, Fred Howe who lived next door to the church in Warne Street. The first Sunday School was held in his home until the first section of the hall was built some years later.Physical FormatPhotograph
