DetailsGalston Branch Library opened in a shop in Galston in April 1973, opposite the current site.
Galston Library is now housed in the former Church of Emmanuel. It was built in 1938 and consecrated in 1941. Located at 357 Galston Road, it served the Galston community until 1983. Hornsby Shire Council purchased the building in 1985 and it opened as a library in December 1986.
The building is said to be a good example of an interwar period Gothic style church. The Dural and District Historical Society has advised that the tiled roof is believed to be original. The tiles are believed to be the same as those placed on "Sandown", a stone building on the corner of Bay Road and Charltons Creek Road, Berrilee. "Sandown" was built by the Clark family and constructed at the same time as the church. It is understood that Mr Clark and the Reverend Ron O'Brien were close friends, and the Clark's were actively involved in the construction of the church. The building is heritage listed.LocationGalstonGeotag[1] KeywordsGalstonGalston LibraryHornsby Shire Libraries
